Caddo Parish District Attorney Rex Scott, 67, was found dead in his hotel room at The Cook Hotel and Conference Center at LSU in Baton Rouge. He reported died of heart problems. (www.caddoda.com)

Caddo Parish District Attorney Rex Scott was found dead in his Baton Rouge hotel room Wednesday (April 22) morning at the The Cook Hotel and Conference Center at LSU, The Shreveport Times reports. He was 67.

The newspaper reports Scott died of “previously undiagnosed heart disease,” after having been in Baton Rouge to attend legislative meetings. A more thorough autopsy will be completed. Two Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office employees reportedly discovered Scott unresponsive in his room after he failed to show up for breakfast.

Funeral arrangements for Scott are set for Monday (April 27) at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad helped the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office in detonating dynamite on Tuesday.

The incident was reported at 11230 North-South 359 Road in Seminole County.

Officials said people were cleaning when they found five sticks of dynamite wrapped in a newspaper from 1961.

“We know that these agencies would help us out. That’s what we are here for and at the end of the day we want everyone to go home safely,” Mark Myers with Oklahoma County said. 

The dynamite was detonated safely and no one was hurt.
